When the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, the deadliest in American history, intersected with its most populated city, the focus immediately shifted to human and economic survival. These Unavoidable circumstances created impossible situations for every member of the five boros. The inevitable consequences New Yorkers were left with included job losses, transportation complications, and very little notion of just what could happen next.
Faced a national disaster, Mayor Bill DeBlasio decided to adopt a spirit of relief, recovery, and renewal, taking direction from Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps of 1934, where the strength of America’s human resources were used to beautify and enhance the nation’s natural resources in parks and other public land works from coast to coast.
