MALVIN [Washington Heights]
Malvin has been with CCC since it began; following a sudden stop of his 14 year career in telecommunications during the depths of the COVID crisis.
“I was just being a dad for the summer, and then this opportunity presented itself. I love this job; to be honest, for me it’s about quality of life, which should be important to everyone, but I just feel like if you want to make life better, why not start in your own backyard?”
The City Cleanup Corps presented new opportunity for Malvin, now the assistant field manager for the graffiti removal operations through the program’s partnership with the NYC Economic Development Corporation, managing 5 trucks daily that service over 125 locations a week throughout New York City. “It’s a good feeling when you look at the before and the after of your canvas. I did work with paint a little before this, but you know, very minimal, like in my kitchen and bedrooms! Now I have whole neighborhoods watching!”
“But when the people see us in the street, they wave! Business owners recognize us when we come back a second or a third time! I think the communities are happy to see us all back up and running.”
